BRINGING LARGE-SCALE EVENT ENGINEERING TO THE GLOBAL STAGE

Web Summit Qatar 2025, held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC), brought together more than 25,000 attendees, 700+ investors, and 1,500 startups, making it one of the most significant gatherings of tech leaders in the region. Often described as "Glastonbury for Geeks" by The Guardian, this event serves as a hub for global innovation, thought leadership, and networking. With six stages, multiple exhibition areas, and high-profile speakers, Web Summit required precise technical execution to ensure seamless production and audience engagement.

As a trusted provider of event engineering solutions in the GCC region, ES:ME was the lead technical supplier, overseeing the rigging, staging, lighting, and LED integration across the entire venue. Our role extended beyond setup, providing technical planning, load calculations, and coordination with venue teams to ensure all elements were aligned for a successful execution. Our expertise in large-scale events, particularly in high-pressure environments, makes our work highly transferable to major sporting events requiring technical precision.

COMPREHENSIVE EVENT SOLUTIONS ALIGNED WITH SPORTING EVENTS

At Web Summit Qatar, ES:ME managed the rigging and lighting for all six stages, including top rigging points for audio, lighting, and LED screens, as well as ground rigging for IBC truss towers. These complex rigging requirements mirror the needs of international sporting events, where large-scale infrastructure must support broadcast technology, sponsor branding, and audience engagement areas. From stadiums to fan zones, the ability to design and install robust rigging structures is essential for event success.

ES:ME worked closely with the lighting designer from the early planning stages to ensure the successful execution of the lighting designs. Our lighting engineers operated and managed the stage and broadcast lighting, ensuring high-quality visuals for live-streamed sessions and keynote addresses. This experience translates directly to sporting events, where precise lighting operation is essential for ceremonies, press conferences, and live coverage. Whether enhancing football stadiums, Formula 1 circuits, or international tournaments, our ability to adapt lighting to different environments ensures optimal visibility, safety, and an enhanced viewer experience.

Additionally, ES:ME was responsible for staging across all six Web Summit stages, collaborating with Al Laith for installation. The design and execution of staging solutions at a high-profile conference directly translates to sports events that require custom-built platforms for opening ceremonies, VIP areas, and fan engagement zones.

A PROVEN PARTNER FOR HIGH-IMPACT GLOBAL EVENTS

ES:ME’s ability to adapt to tight timelines and evolving project demands was a key factor in the success of Web Summit Qatar 2025. The event’s strict production schedule, coupled with the need for coordinated AV, lighting, and rigging solutions, mirrors the operational challenges of major sporting events. Our experience in event infrastructure, from precision rigging to large-scale audiovisual execution, positions ES:ME as a trusted partner for sports organizations seeking seamless event delivery.

As Major Events International (MEI) members, ES:ME is committed to bringing reliable, world-class event engineering to sporting events worldwide. Our work at Web Summit demonstrates how technical expertise, industry collaboration, and meticulous planning can elevate any large-scale production, from international tech summits to high-profile sporting competitions.
